HSA 6115: Intro to Management of Health Services Organizations
Overview of mission, environment, and organizational design of health services organizations, with emphasis on organizational relationships with the external environment. Organizational design, structure, stakeholder analysis, and multi-organizational forms.
HSA 6395: Healthcare Data Analytics I
This course is an introduction to the use of data analytics in health care decision-making to help health services organizations get more effectiveness and efficiency from their operations.
HSA 6117: Health Care Finance
Application of accounting and financial management theory and principles to the health care industry, emphasis on provider organizations.
HSA 6198: lnformation Management in Health Administration
Survey of management information systems. Analysis of system requirements, system design, evaluation, and selection of computer resources, and management of the implementation process.
HSA 6328: Revenue Cycle Management in Healthcare Organizations
Provides an in-depth exploration of revenue cycle management (RCM) in healthcare organizations. It covers the entire revenue cycle process from patient registration to final payment, focusing on strategies to optimize revenue, ensure compliance, and improve financial performance. The course also addresses current challenges and trends in RCM, including the impact of technology and regulatory changes.
HSA 6427: Legal and Ethical Issues in Health Administration
Corporate theory, consent to care, malpractice, liability, and other special legal problems in the health care field. Foundations of ethical analysis. Ethical and legal issues related to human reproduction, genetics, the definition of death, and other topics of current interest.
HSA 6939: Capstone Seminar in Health Administration
An integrative learning experience drawing on all disciplines and subject matter presented in the M.H.A. program to complete a comprehensive team project in a health-related organization.
PHC 6600: Foundations of Public Health
The purpose of the course is to provide a broad introduction to public health and how it is related to health care administration.

HSA 6385: Performance Management for Health Care Managers (3)
Overview, emphasis on implementation. Aspects of quality defined in relation to structure, process, and outcomes. Managerial quality improvement and formal change process techniques related to changing practice behavior in various settings.
HSA 6030: Management of Artificial Intelligence
Comprehensively explores the application and management of artificial intelligence (AI) in health services organizations. Students will learn about the fundamental concepts of AI, its transformative potential in healthcare, and the strategic, ethical, and operational considerations for its implementation and management. The course discusses AI technologies and decision support systems, and their impact on clinical and administrative processes.
HSA 6126: The U.S. Health Insurance System
Description and analysis of the U.S. health insurance system. Topics include; private vs. public insurers, demand for health insurance, health plan types, premium setting, reimbursement of providers.
HSA 6324: Value Based Care
Explores value-based care models’ principles, implementation, and impact in healthcare. It covers the shift from volume to value-based reimbursement system, key components of value-based care, payment models, performance metrics, and strategies for successful implementation. Students will understand how value-based care aims to improve patient outcomes and the population’s health while reducing costs.
HSA 6188: Strategic Management in Health Administration
Relationship of health care organizations to their environment. Strategic management processes, business planning, and other perspectives to aid in managing complex health care organizations.
HSA 6342: Human Resource Management for Health Services Managers
Knowledge and skills needed for effective management in complex health services organizations. Focus on human resource acquisition, retention, and exit, as well as labor relations issues.
Admissions requirements
To be considered for the UF M.H.A. program, all applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A prior bachelor’s degree, clinical master’s degree or clinical doctoral degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a degree deemed equivalent to them by the UF Office of Admissions’ evaluation of official transcripts. UF cannot accept applicants with degrees from U.S. institutions that are not regionally accredited.
- Graduation from a regionally accredited baccalaureate institution with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- 9 credits in quantitative-based courses with a B or better, or a GRE with a 300 score and 150 or better in the quantitative section.
- One of the following:
- Clinical doctor or clinical master’s degree and two years of post-graduate healthcare experience
- Three years of post-baccalaureate healthcare management experience or post-baccalaureate clinical experience
- Five years of post-baccalaureate leadership/management experience in any industry
Before starting the program, those without a healthcare background must take HSA 6114—Health Care System and Policy.
