This program enhances knowledge by providing a public health perspective on population-level health issues, preparing professionals for leadership roles. It is not suitable for recent bachelor’s graduates or individuals without substantial professional experience.
Format Options

Offered in both online and in-person formats, the program includes a traditional 48-credit format and an accelerated 42-credit format for eligible applicants.
- Online Format: Flexible for working professionals.
- In-Person Format: Available to UF joint degree students, on-campus professionals, and medical residents in Gainesville and Jacksonville.
Eligibility
Eligible individuals include:
- Students in joint or concurrent terminal degree programs (e.g., DVM, MD, PharmD).
- Professionals with advanced health degrees (e.g., DDS, DPT, OT, PT, psychologist).
- Those with at least three years of public health agency experience (e.g., CDC, WHO) after earning a bachelor’s degree.
- Individuals with four years of experience in related fields (e.g., hospital administration) applying public health concepts to their work.
To qualify for the 42-credit option, applicants must hold a terminal degree from a regionally accredited US institution.
Curriculum
Students complete core MPH courses and choose electives from multiple concentrations, with at least one research methods course. Additional courses focus on practical skills, research, and writing. The program culminates in an Applied Practice Experience (Internship) and an Integrative Learning Experience (Capstone).
