Thank you for your interest in joining PHHP! Below you will find helpful information and the steps to take for switching your major to one of our three undergraduate majors.
Minimum requirements
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA (3.2 for Bachelor of Health Science)
- Minimum 3.0 prerequisite GPA, with a “C” or better in all critical tracking courses
- 60 credit hours by the end of your sophomore year
Critical tracking courses
Bachelor of Health Science
- Biology (BSC1010 or BSC2010) and lab*
- General Psychology (PSY2012)
- Statistics 1 (STA2023)
- Applied Physiology (APK2105C OR BSC2085 and BSC2026 with labs OR BSC2093 and BSC2094 with labs)**
* Pre-Rehabilitation specialization students are permitted to complete BSC1005/BSC2005 and lab, but BSC1010/BSC1010 is strongly recommended.
** Students applying to the Preprofessional specialization can complete CHM1045/CHM2045 in place of the Applied Physiology requirement.
Bachelor of Health Science, Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Biology (BSC2005 or BSC 2010)
- General Psychology (PSY2012)
- Additional social and behavioral science course: Courses in Sociology, Anthropology, or Psychology recommended
- Statistics 1 (STA2023)
- Additional biological science (3 credits); APK 2105C is highly recommended (or a course with BSC or MCB prefix)
- Physical Science (3 credits): Must be CHM or PHY prefix course. (PHY 2004, CHM 1030 or CHM 1020)
- Science lab (1 credit)
Bachelor of Public Health
- BSC2005 Biological Sciences or BSC2010 Integrated Principles of Biology I
- STA2023 Introduction to Statistics I
- PSY2012 General Psychology
- ENC2256 Professional Writing in the Discipline (Public Health)
AP, IB, or AICE credit is accepted for most critical tracking courses. If a letter grade has been earned, a minimum of “C” or higher is required for all courses, including the critical tracking courses.
