Notes
Practicum courses: Practicum courses are assigned a section number, and each section offers a unique setting for obtaining supervised clinical experience. Students work under the supervision of a qualified mentor and each student works in a range of settings during the course of the program. Students typically enroll in 2 credits of SPA 6524 in Year 1 (Fall, Spring, and Summer) and Fall of Year 2.
Externship in SLP: Students arrange an externship during the final semester of graduate study in a setting that is of interest to them. The department can assist the student with this process. The externship is unpaid. Otherwise, it is usually similar to a full-time job experience. Many of our students receive job offers from the site where the externship takes place.
