The Population Health Management concentration within the University of Florida’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program is designed to prepare students to improve healthcare systems, policies, and practices. This program focuses on enhancing the quality, access, delivery, and outcomes of health services through evidence-based approaches and innovative strategies. This concentration is available in two formats to accommodate the diverse needs of our students.
MPH Concentration
Population Health Management
Graduates of the PHM concentration are equipped to pursue careers in areas such as: Legislative policy advisor, management policy advisor, hospital/managed care administrator, program planner and evaluator, health services research analyst, policy analyst, academics.

- Comprehensive Curriculum: The PHM concentration provides an interdisciplinary curriculum grounded in health services, health economics, and health policy. It emphasizes outcome measurement, strategic and program planning, community engagement, data analysis, operations research, and policy making.
- Diverse Student Backgrounds: Students entering the PHM concentration come from various fields, including health services, policy, economics, business, finance, social sciences, and basic sciences. Health professionals seeking advanced training in health policy, economics, and services research also pursue this concentration.

The campus format is designed for students who prefer in-person learning and the benefits of an on-campus environment, including face-to-face interactions with faculty and peers.

Concentration Competencies
Upon completion of the MPH program, students with a concentration in population health management should have mastered the following competencies:
- Integrate systems thinking theory to incorporate multiple stakeholders at state and local levels to address a public health issue
- Create an evaluation plan for a public health initiative
- Apply principles and theory of budget preparation, managerial accounting and financial management to organizations in the health sector
- Develop a survey instrument that validly examines public health research questions and produces data that addresses health implications and their relationship to policy and contexts
- Conduct an economic analysis of a major health policy issue
