Meet our MHS One Health students

Ultimately, my career aspirations revolve around pursuing a Ph.D. and delving into research or a combination of research and academia.

If I could solve one environmental and global health problem, it would be the ability to turn any contaminated water source into clean, reliable water for both humans and wildlife.

I would ensure more sanitary hospital conditions, provide clean drinking water, and improve sewage systems in underdeveloped nations.

My ultimate career goal is to become a veterinarian, to use what I learned in undergrad and what I will learn through this program to benefit and protect animals.

My goal is to continue working in emergency management, serving my community, and helping improve preparedness and resilience in the face of more frequent and intense disasters.

I’d like to increase the availability of local food systems that use regenerative agricultural practices to address the food and nutritional insecurities contributing to health and environmental issues globally.

I would make for-profit research less of the driving force behind innovative drugs, and open access to everyone for these innovations.

I would like to help zoos and veterinary hospitals address infectious diseases caused by vector insects, such as the assassin bug, by gaining a better understanding of their ecology and host-parasite networks.

I would redistribute the world’s land use to conserve diverse, key-stone ecosystems and solve food insecurities!

My experiences have shown me the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, nutritious food and spending time in nature on mental and physical well-being. I’ve learned that we can’t achieve optimal human health without protecting the health of all species, ecosystems, ensuring food safety and air quality. That’s why the One Health approach resonated with me, and I decided to join the program.
