Health Administration Minor

The Health Administration minor is a 15-credit minor that will teach students the fundamentals of health administration in preparation for a career or advanced degree in the health industry.

Overview

Healthcare cuts across all aspects of our lives professionally and personally. Regardless of your undergraduate major, you may go on to design [a tool] that we use in healthcare, create policies that influence how we pay for healthcare, or even construct cities that determine how we layout our healthcare system.

Eligibility

The Health Administration minor is open to all UF undergraduate students. Students enrolled in an MPH combination degree program are not eligible to pursue the Health Administration minor at this time.

Prerequisites

Junior standing (60 or more credits)

3.0+ UF GPA

Note: Meeting the eligibility requirements for the Health Administration minor DOES NOT guarantee that you will be approved.

Minor Courses

Students accepted into the minor are required to complete 15 total credits including 12 credits of required coursework and 3 credits of elective coursework. Students may choose any elective courses listed below to meet the elective requirements. Students are strongly advised to take HSA3111 first, as it is a prerequisite for most other minor courses.

  • HSA3111 US Healthcare System (prerequisites: STA2023 and PSY2012)
  • HSA4191 Health Informatics & Emerging Healthcare Technologies (prerequisite: STA2023)
  • HSA4430 Health Economics (prerequisite: HSA3111)
  • Choose one Leadership course:
    • HSC4184 Health Care Leadership Skills and Styles (prerequisite: HSA3111)
    • PHC4117 Public Health Management Leadership (prerequisite: HSA3111)

Elective Courses (3 Credits)

Choose one elective course:

  • HSA4364 Healthcare Operations, Management, Strategy, and Quality (prerequisite: HSA3111)
  • HSA4154 Health Policy (prerequisite: HSA3111)
