Dr. Carolyn Hanson returned to the OT Department in 2018 and teaches primarily in the BHS program. She is a licensed occupational therapist with experience in acute care and home health.

The colloquium brings together clinicians, scientists, faculty and students to discuss best evidence and practice in occupational therapy.

The Department of Occupational Therapy hosted the seventh annual Sandra Edwards Colloquium on January 28, 2023. The theme for this year's Colloquium was "Sensory Processing and Integration: Science and Practice." Our keynote speaker was Dr. Grace Baranek from the University of Southern California.

Some strategies focus on psychology, said Chiung-ju (CJ) Liu, associate professor of occupational therapy at the University of Florida. Pain can limit your stamina and range of motion. So allow yourself to change your standards, such as using semi-ready products, Liu said, instead of cooking from scratch.

The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) Board has appointed Dr. Sherrilene Classen as Chair of the ADED Research Committee, effective April 1, 2022 – December 31, 2024.

The Occupational Therapy Equal Access Clinic (OT EAC) is a student run clinic serving the greater Gainesville area. This clinic provides a unique opportunity for students, faculty members, and community clinicians to collaboratively promote client independence and engagement in occupations.

Ms. Gibson is one of our newest clinical faculty members. She is a licensed occupational therapist and a certified driver rehabilitation specialist with over 25 years' experience.

The Department of Occupational Therapy hosted the sixth annual Sandra Edwards Colloquium on February 12, 2022. The theme for this year's Colloquium was "Functional Cognition in Occupational Therapy: Assessment, Intervention and Technology Across the Lifespan." Our keynote speaker was Dr. Timothy Wolf from the University of Missouri.

This milestone class also holds the distinction of being the first OTD graduates from a Florida public institution.
