Michael E von Fricken

Michael E. von Fricken (PhD, MPH) currently serves as an Associate Professor and Director of the One Health Center of Excellence at the University of Florida, where he leads interdisciplinary research and training initiatives aimed at addressing complex health challenges at the human-animal-environment interface. He earned his PhD and MPH in Public Health from the University of Florida, followed by a NIH D43 postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University, focused on tick-borne and zoonotic diseases in Mongolia.

His work frequently takes him to Haiti, Kenya, Mongolia, Pakistan, and Equatorial Guinea, where he studies emerging infectious diseases.

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, being outdoors, and reading.
