About Jamie L Pomeranz

Jamie L. Pomeranz, Ph.D., CRC, CLCP, is the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy. In his current role, Dr. Pomeranz facilitates coordination across the college’s undergraduate majors, serves as the Director of the Bachelor of Health Science program and teaches courses within the Bachelor of Health Science.

As a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and Life Care Planner, Dr. Pomeranz has dedicated over 20 years to serving individuals with disabilities across various capacities. His clinical expertise spans spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury and intellectual disabilities.

Since joining the UF faculty in 2004, Dr. Pomeranz has focused his research on health promotion for individuals with disabilities, life care planning and modern measurement theory. His research had been supported by funding from the Area Health Education Centers, the National Institutes of Health and the Veterans Health Administration. His scholarly contributions include 63 peer-reviewed publications and two book chapters. A committed mentor, Dr. Pomeranz continues to guide Ph.D. and M.P.H. students in the Public Health and Rehabilitation Science programs.

Dr. Pomeranz’s work has earned him numerous accolades, including the Excellence in Research Award, the Outstanding Young Alumni Award and the Public Health Award for Faculty Excellence. He was inducted into the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health in 2024. He holds three advanced degrees from the University of Florida: a Master of Exercise and Sports Science, a Master of Health Science in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Science.
