Teaching Philosophy
Given the broad access to information via electronic access and readily available tools to extract and analyze data, my main emphasis is to help students strengthen their critical thinking ability by applying knowledge rather than recalling facts. I’m striving to keep education real by enforcing expectations that prepare students for a successful professional life beyond the sheltered academic learning environment.
Research Profile
My research program is focused on exploring the interactions between diet and gut microbiota and their contributions to various aspects of human health. We are utilizing state of the art sequencing and bioinformatics approaches to establish potential utility and develop microbiota targeting interventions.
