The Background
Each fall, the MPH program holds the Common Reader Discussion, led by public health faculty, as a way of fostering interaction between students of different public health concentrations as well as providing for an interesting group discussion about a current public health issue.
This year we have selected "The Forgotten Girls: A Memoir of Friendship and Lost Promise in Rural America by Monica Potts.
You can read a summary about the book here (or on Goodreads or any major bookstore website). The New York Times wrote a book review on the book, and NPR interviewed the author about this memoir.
Please add this to your reading list so you can share your thoughts and contribute to discussion during our common reader session this Fall!
The common reader discussion will be held both in-person and over zoom on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 11:45 am to 1:30 pm. The common reader book discussion is optional for all campus and online MPH students, however, we encourage your participation if your schedule will allow. We hope you will join us!
