FAQs

Will my name be called as I walk across the stage?
Yes! All College of Public Health and Health Professions bachelor’s and master’s candidates will be recognized by name as they cross the stage at the Spring Recognition Ceremony. Doctoral candidates who are in attendance will also be individually recognized but will not be hooded given the hooding ceremony takes place at the UF Doctoral Commencement Ceremony.

What should I wear?
Students are expected to wear academic regalia to the PHHP Spring Recognition Ceremony. Students should arrive stage ready (dressed in full regalia and ready to walk on stage). Regalia can be ordered through the bookstore until March 1. After March 1, there will be a late fee assessed to your order and the bookstore is not able to guarantee they will have your size.

Where do I get a name card and do I bring it to the ceremony?
Students will receive name cards at the Bookstore when picking up regalia. Please bring your completed name card to the recognition ceremony. Blank cards will be available on site should you misplace your name card or no longer have it (in the case of PhD graduates).

Do I need tickets to attend the ceremony? How many guests can I bring?
No, guests will not need a ticket to attend the Recognition Ceremony at the O’Connell Center. There is no maximum for how many guests can attend, but space is first-come first-served.

At what time should I arrive? Where do I go once I get to the O’Connell Center?
Gates will open at 8:00 AM. Students should enter through Gate 4 of the O’Connell Center. Guests will be able to enter through Gate 1 of the O’Connell Center. Please note the processional will BEGIN AT 9 AM. There will be signage indicating where students should enter, as well as marshals and staff to escort students into the building. Remember full regalia is required at this event. Also, please note that storage for your personal items is not available on site. We recommend students leave their personal belongings with their guests.

This event is on a normal UF work day for faculty and staff. Please make sure to consider this additional traffic when planning your arrival to the venue.
