FAQs

Will my name be called as I walk across the stage?
Yes! All College of Public Health and Health Professions bachelor’s and master’s candidates will be recognized by name as they cross the stage at the Spring Recognition Ceremony. Doctoral candidates who are in attendance will also be individually recognized but will not be hooded given the hooding ceremony takes place at the UF-wide commencement.

What should I wear?
Students are expected to wear academic regalia to the PHHP Spring Recognition Ceremony. Students should arrive stage ready (dressed in full regalia and ready to walk on stage). Regalia can still be ordered through the bookstore for an additional fee. Please note that the UF Bookstore will not be on site the day of the event.

Where do I get a name card and do I bring it to the ceremony?
Students will receive name cards at the Bookstore when picking up regalia. Please bring your completed name card to the recognition ceremony. Blank cards will be available on site should you misplace your name card or no longer have it (in the case of PhD graduates).

Do I need tickets to attend the ceremony? How many guests can I bring?
Yes, guests will be required to present a ticket in order to enter the venue the day of the event. Each student can request a maximum of 6 tickets for their guests.
While there is no guarantee that additional tickets will be available, if they do we will send more information out on this process at a later date.

Does my child need a ticket to attend the ceremony?
At the Phillips Center, every patron over 2 years old must have a ticket for admission to the PHHP Recognition Ceremony. Child-in-lap seating is approved for children 2 and under, accompanied by an adult: meaning that the 2-and-under child will remain seated in the lap of their accompanying adult through the entire event. The accompanying adult may not be a candidate participating in the ceremony, they must be in the audience and the child must stay in their lap.

Please also note that strollers are not permitted in the seating area of the venue. There will be a room just inside the entrance of the Phillips Center to store strollers.

Where do I pick up my tickets?
Tickets will be available April 18 to April 21 in room 4101 (4th floor, HPNP Deans Office) from 1 PM to 4 PM. Make sure to bring your student ID for pick up. If you are unable to pick up your tickets within that timeframe, please email us at events@phhp.ufl.edu.

At what time should I arrive? Where do I go once I get to the Phillips Center?
Students should arrive at 7:30 AM for the 9 AM ceremony and 11:30 AM for the 1 PM ceremony. Please note the processional will BEGIN AT 9 AM AND 1 PM respectively. There will be signage indicating where students should enter, as well as marshals and staff to escort students into the building. Remember full regalia is required at this event. Also, please note that storage for your personal items is not available on site. We recommend students leave their personal belongings with their guests.

Guests will be able to enter at 8 AM for the 9 AM ceremony and 12 PM for the 1 PM ceremony.

Please be aware that there is a UF Baseball game starting at 12 PM in close proximity to the Phillips Center. Please make sure to consider this additional traffic when planning your arrival to the venue.

Where do guests enter?
Guests enter through the main doors of the Phillips Center. Guests must present a ticket to be admitted.

What if I or my guests require accommodations?
