AI in Public Health and Healthcare

The graduate certificate for Artificial Intelligence in Public Health and Healthcare is intended for graduates seeking to acquire technical knowledge, ethical decision-making and applied skills in artificial intelligence tailored to public health practice and healthcare settings.

Overview

This certificate is designed for current graduate students who are seeking to gain AI knowledge and skills with emphasis on public health and healthcare, addressing cutting edge topics such as causal AI, AI fairness and bias, coding and health data/pipeline visualization.

Eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and be eligible to enroll as a graduate-level student at the University of Florida. This includes both current UF graduate students (degree-seeking or non-degree seeking) and individuals seeking admission as non-degree graduate students specifically for the purpose of completing the certificate. Undergraduate students are not eligible.
  • Student must have credit for PHC 6000 Epidemiology Research Methods I (3), PHC 6099, PHC 6050C or PHC 6051

Requirements for completion

Core Courses

  • PHC 6635 Health, Artificial Intelligence, and Human Values (3 credits; Letter-graded)
  • GMS 7858 Causal Artificial Intelligence for Health Research (3 credits; Letter-graded)

And one of the following:

  • PHC 7083 Computational Data Science for Epidemiology (3 credits; Letter-graded)
  • PHC 6097 Statistical Learning with Applications in Health Sciences (3 credits; Letter-graded)
