DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION WE STRIVE TO FOSTER AN OPEN DIALOG ABOUT DIVERSITY AND CULTURAL COMPETENCE SO THAT WE CAN IMPROVE HEALTH EQUITY, PREPARE OUR STUDENTS AND MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN OUR STATE, THE NATION AND THE WORLD.
Through teaching, research and service, the College of Public Health and Health Professions works to broaden understanding and strengthen attention to diversity and cultural competence and to promote efforts to enhance health equity.
1.Enhance recruitment and retention of a diverse student body and faculty.
2. Foster a culture that encourages an open and constructive dialog about cultural differences.
3. Promote cultural competence across academic programs.
Diversity and Inclusion Committee
The committee was formed in 2012 with the purpose of enhancing and promoting diversity and cultural competence.
The committee has a representative from each department, in addition to students members and staff support.
The University of Florida has a wealth of resources for students, faculty and staff that support a diverse learning and working environment.
The annual Diversity Week began as a day-long celebration of diversity, featuring key speakers and a poster demonstration of diversity-related work being performed by students, faculty and staff. In recent years, it has expanded to include additional days celebrating diversity among students, faculty and staff with student meet-ups to encourage networking as well as faculty and staff mixers. At its core, Diversity Week is an opportunity for members of the college to showcase how we are more similar than we are different.
A free summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions.
