DIVERSITY, equity, AND INCLUSION WE STRIVE TO FOSTER AN OPEN DIALOG ABOUT DIVERSITY AND CULTURAL COMPETENCE SO THAT WE CAN IMPROVE HEALTH EQUITY, PREPARE OUR STUDENTS AND MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN OUR STATE, THE NATION AND THE WORLD.
The mission of the committee is to broaden understanding and strengthen attention to diversity and cultural competence and to promote efforts to enhance health equity through teaching, research, and service.
The College of PHHP, through the DEI committee and in collaboration across departments, is taking an intersectional approach to continue to build a more inclusive community, including focusing on developing the role of allies and allyship in the college.
The college has established four specific diversity and cultural competence goals:
– Enhance recruitment and retention of a diverse student body and faculty,
– Foster a culture that encourages an open and constructive dialog about cultural differences,
– Actively works to promote anti-racism and anti-discrimination efforts in all parts of the college to foster a more inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment for all,
– Promote cultural competence, diversity, equity and inclusion across all academic programs.
