Zhoumeng Lin named to Advancing Therapeutics NIH study section

Environmental toxicology and pharmacology expert Zhoumeng Lin, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Environmental and Global Health at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, has received a four-year appointment to serve on the Advancing Therapeutics B study section of the Center for Scientific Review at the National Institutes of Health.

The Advancing Therapeutics B study section is focused on advancing preclinical development of therapeutic strategies with potential for translation to clinical treatment. Study section members are charged with reviewing applications for projects designed to treat non-cancer-related illnesses, including infectious diseases. They also review applications aimed at evaluating therapeutic efficacy, safety and toxicity in animal models and pilot clinical trials. The study section’s evaluations inform NIH funding decisions.

“I am deeply honored to join the Advancing Therapeutics B study section and help identify high-impact research proposals that leverage cutting-edge translational science to advance new candidate therapies for pressing biomedical challenges,” Lin said.

In his own research, Lin explores the development and application of computational technologies, including physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK), quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR), machine learning and artificial intelligence models related to nanomedicine, animal-derived food safety assessment and environmental chemical risk assessment to support decision-making in human, animal and environmental health.

He has received multiple honors, including the Outstanding Mid-Career Scientist Award from the Society of Toxicology’s Comparative Toxicology, Pathology, and Veterinary Specialty Section, and Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences. Lin has appeared on Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists list every year since 2021 and was named a Top Scholar (2024) and Highly Ranked Scholar (2025) by ScholarGPS, an analytics platform that calculates scientists’ individual impact.
