Meet: Paige Zolecki

Program: Doctor of Occupational Therapy

Hometown: Lakewood Ranch, Florida

Educational background: UF Bachelor of Health Science

Why did you decide to join your program?

I decided to pursue my OTD at UF because of my undergraduate experience at UF PHHP. There was a unique sense of belonging and community within PHHP that I did not find anywhere else. The faculty and staff that interacted with prospective students were welcoming, friendly and motivating. Being a double gator was a no brainer for me!

What have been some of your favorite moments in your program?

My favorite moments have been surrounded by my peers in moments of camaraderie! Leading the UF O.T.D. orientation alongside my peers and department interim chair, Dr. Christine Myers, built my confidence as a leader, student and mentor for fellow colleagues. Additionally, my greatest memory within my leadership role in the department includes the development of the UF O.T.D .Ambassador program. I worked alongside my fellow chair and Dr. Rebecca Piazza to develop a program that promotes inclusion, service and recruitment for future UF O.T.D. students. We are grounded in advocacy, making an effort to promote our university, our program, and most importantly, our profession as occupational therapists.

What do you plan to do with your degree?

I plan on devoting my career to becoming a specialist in Fragile X Syndrome through OT treatment interventions, clinical management and research. A long term goal includes stepping into academia.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I really enjoy fitness, traveling, watching reality TV, cooking and running!

What would you like to share with others who may be considering the same program?

You are capable, worthy and ready for this! Starting my journey as an occupational therapy student at UF is the best decision I have ever made. Whether you decide to enroll at UF or another O.T.D. program, we are supportive of your journey as an occupational therapist! The OT community is welcoming, warm and incredibly rewarding!
