Program: Ph.D. in Public Health, One Health concentration

Hometown: Niskayuna, NY

Educational background: Master of Public Health from University of North Florida

Why did you decide to join your program?

I was accepted to UF and then accepted for Duty Under Instruction with the U.S. Navy. This is a great opportunity because I will be getting paid to be a student!

What have been some of your favorite moments in your program?

I am so excited to dive deeper into public health! I have been away from school for several years and look forward to getting back into the “swing” of things!

What do you plan to do with your degree?

I will continue my naval service until retirement eligibility. I will have to do a “utilization tour” after I graduate from a research center, and then I will complete my rotation as an Environmental Health Officer until I decide to retire.

What would you like to share with others who may be considering the same program?

Do NOT stop reaching for greatness! Education is a journey, not a task, and not a “necessity.” It exists to keep your mind strong and your networking even stronger! Just do it.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have three kids, a husband and a dog. I am very busy being a mom, but we also have a family passion for bodybuilding! I will be training and competing in National Physique Committee competitions around Florida throughout the year.
