A letter from the Program Director:

Oct. 9, 2025

Dear colleagues, alumni and friends:

We are in the middle of the Fall 2025 semester, and I want to share some exciting updates:

1. Administrative fellowships: The administrative fellowship search for students continues with the M.H.A. Class of 2026 having great success. We already have eight students who have accepted fellowship offers! Two of these acceptances came from offers during the students’ summer internship sites. A third student signed a job offer to start after graduation because the organization saw that she added value during her internship. Once again, our students’ hard work is paying off.

2. M.H.A seminar:

To start, the M.H.A. program held its first UF Health/Gainesville Internship Fair during Seminar with nine entities participating. Thank you to organizations such as M500 Consulting, UF Department of Anesthesiology, UF Department of Otolaryngology, UF College of Medicine – Finance & Administration Fellowship and Internship Program, UF Department of Surgery, UF Health Managed Care, UF Health Shands, UF Department of OBGYN, UF Department of Emergency Medicine and the Digestive Disease Associates of North Florida for presenting opportunities to our students.

As usual, our invited speakers in Seminar have been very informative. The students learned crisis management from Alan Keesee, CEO, HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, and Kenneth Allen, Director for UF Emergency Management. Students also gained insight on consulting from M.P.H. alum, Sohail Azeem, learned about strategy and change management from UF Health’s Chief Transformation Officer, Jessica Melton, and were inspired by Main Line Health CEO and President, Ed Jimenez (former UF Health Shands CEO). During one seminar, they will be given a tour of UF Innovate alongside its director, Jackson Streeter, MD.

3. M.H.A. case competitions:

Our teams have a busy lineup of case competitions this fall, starting with the Robbins Case Competition at Baylor University, the Penn State Case Competition and the National Association of Health Services Executives (N.A.H.S.E.) Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition. Thank you to all of our case competition coaches!

4. Celebrating 60 Years of Excellence:

On Nov. 14 during the M.H.A. Seminar, we will be holding our first event to celebrate our 60th anniversary of the M.H.A. program. Tom Nasby, M.B.A., M.H.S., is spearheading this event, and there will be both in-person and virtual components to this celebration. More information will be forthcoming.

We continuously receive updates that make us proud to be a part of the UF M.H.A. family! If you want to share exciting news or be featured, please get in touch with our communications coordinator, Sara Mayo (sara.mayo@phhp.ufl.edu).

Best wishes and Go Gators!
