Colton Stewart

Program: Bachelor of Health Science

Educational background: Associate degree from Indian River State College

Hometown: Palm City, FL

Why did you decide to join the UF Bachelor of Health Science program?

Because of the dual enrollment opportunities through my school, I was able to earn my associate, as well as finish most of the science classes needed for enrollment into medical school in high school. Health Science as a degree was explained to me as more of a hands-on experience degree, with classes specific only to this college that I couldn’t take as a regular old Bio, Physics, Chem, etc. major, offering a way to gain skills needed in the medical field one may not be able to obtain from lectures.

What have been some of your favorite moments in your program?

Well, I just started here, so I’ll have to get back on that, but I do enjoy the weekly emails keeping me up to date on activities and programs one can join.

What do you plan to do with your degree?

I plan to pursue a career in radiation oncology, helping cancer patients like members of my family through their battle, giving back.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to read, work out, study, go on bike rides, bowl, watch T.V. and row.

What would you like to share with others who may be considering the same program?

PHHP may not be a big college, but it’s a mighty one. This is where you can get experience that you may not have gotten otherwise, which will definitely help with resume building and building connections.
