Meet: Kimberly McFarlane
Program:Â Public Health, Ph.D., One Health concentration
Educational Background:
- Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies from Florida State University
- Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in Aquatics and Shelter Medicine from University of Florida
What are your research interests?
I am interested in various areas of One Health, veterinary medicine, and environmental toxicology and conservation.
Why did you choose the University of Florida?
As a top-tier university and my alma mater, I thought it was a wonderful fit!

What philosophy guides you in your education?
Maintain a growth mindset and be willing to make mistakes—and learn from those mistakes.
If you could solve one environmental or global health problem, what would it be?
If I could solve one environmental or global health problem, it would be deforestation and habitat loss.
What are your career goals?
I would love to become a state veterinarian.
