They bring unique perspectives and experiences to their studies, preparing to become the next generation of health professionals who will address pressing health challenges and advance their field.

Meet: Brady Nettina

Program: Master of Health Science, One Health

Undergraduate Degree: Bachelor of Science in Fire and Emergency Services with a specialization in Emergency Management

Research Interests: One Health concepts in emergency management and personal/family/animal preparedness;

personnel safety in post-disaster response and recovery

Why did you choose the University of Florida?

I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, so I know the quality of education UF provides. I returned a few years ago as an employee, and continuing my education at my alma mater—especially in a field relevant to my career—is a great opportunity.

What philosophy guides you in your education?

Continuing to learn is essential to adapting to the changing needs of a dynamic world.

What research experience do you have?

Organizational styles and challenges of emergency management agencies in expanding higher education systems.

If you could solve one environmental and/or global health problem, what would it be?

Food insecurity.

What are your career goals?

My goal is to continue working in emergency management, serving my community, and helping improve preparedness and resilience in the face of more frequent and intense disasters.
