Why did you choose the University of Florida?
I chose the University of Florida because of the flexibility of the MHS program. I can complete my degree online while working full time. After completing an internship at the University of Florida last year, I had no doubt I would receive an outstanding education in the MHS program. I was also drawn to the research opportunities available under the leadership of exceptional mentors.
What philosophy guides you in your education?
“An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”
—Proverbs 18:15
If you could solve one environmental and/or global health problem, what would it be?
I would ensure more sanitary hospital conditions, provide clean drinking water, and improve sewage systems in underdeveloped nations.
What are your career goals?
I want to become a health scientist and lead research on vector-borne and bacterial diseases and their spread in certain regions, particularly in the Caribbean. I want to understand and ultimately contribute to the eradication of infectious diseases in areas where they are most prominent. I hope to bring my research to my home country, Haiti, and improve the quality of life for people in the Caribbean and West African regions.
