Adaeze Anamege wins best student paper award at APHA

Adaeze Anamege, a University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions Ph.D. student in epidemiology, was honored with a Greg Alexander Outstanding Student Paper award sponsored by the Maternal and Child Health section of the American Public Health Association.

Anamege presented her paper, “The Role of Social Support in Prenatal Care Uptake Among Individuals with Unwanted Pregnancies,” during the APHA annual meeting held this week in Minneapolis.

Anamege’s research interests are in the areas of social determinants of women’s health; maternal and child health; prenatal exposure to substances of abuse; sexual and reproductive health; and adolescent health. Her mentors are department of epidemiology faculty Catalina Lopez-Quintero, M.D., Ph.D., an assistant professor, and Deepthi Varma, Ph.D., a research assistant professor.
