Shelby Wade, a University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions Master of Public Health student in the social and behavioral sciences concentration, is the recipient of the 2024 Frazier Fund scholarship from Sisters in Public Health.

The Frazier Fund scholarship awards $1,000 to one eligible M.P.H. student annually. According to their website, Sisters in Public Health was created to empower, educate and evolve the next generation of women in public health.

Wade’s research interests focus on how the intersection of identity (LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, military and BIPOC) and trauma, specifically sexual trauma, can impact survivor resilience and their experiences with systems. Her work integrates health equity and trauma-informed care principles rooted in public health to transform system practices and culture, provider confidence and bias, and how survivors experience and navigate systems, particularly health care.
