Ph.D. student delivers guest lecture at the Military Medical Center in Guatemala

Sonila Dubare, a third-year Ph.D. student in the department of epidemiology, recently delivered a guest lecture on “Machine Learning Applications in Clinical Settings” at The Military Medical Center in Guatemala. She presented with M.D. residents and fourth-year medical students of Mariano Gálvez University of Guatemala. Dubare shared her journey as a Ph.D. student and highlighted her international engagements spanning over 20 countries. As an international student herself, her passion and vision are to empower clinical students with research skills, especially those from under-resourced countries.  

Dubare’s goal is to establish a partnership between Mariano Gálvez University and the University of Florida in order to facilitate mutual learning and advancement in research skills through student talks and seminar presentations.
