Brenda Maynor, a master’s in public health student with a social and behavioral sciences concentration, presented an abbreviated presentation of her capstone project at the Florida Public Health Association, or FPHA, Student Conference on April 12, in Orlando. She presented “Narrative Review of Women’s Reproductive Healthcare following the reversal of Roe v Wade in the U.S.” FPHA’s mission is to enhance public health awareness and practice to benefit Florida’s public health professionals, students and statewide infrastructure through advocacy, education and collaboration.
Prior to pursuing her M.P.H., Maynor worked as a registered nurse and ordained minister, focusing her work on health care access, with a special interest in women’s reproductive health care. Maynor has served as a student representative on the M.P.H. student advisory board representing the SBS concentration. She also served as the president of the UF Public Health Student Association. Following graduation, she hopes to continue her work in advocacy and policy work in women’s reproductive health. Maynor was recognized with this year’s SBS M.P.H. Exemplary Student Award.
