Welcome to New HSRMP Faculty: Dr. Ashby Walker and Dr. Yenan Zhu

The Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy welcomes new Research Assistant Professor, Dr. Yenan Zhu, and welcomes back Assistant Professor, Dr. Ashby Walker.

Dr. Yenan Zhu, Research Assistant Professor

Yenan Zhu, PhD, MS, is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy who has a special emphasis on examining disparities in the use of cancer preventive services and post-acute care among medically and socially vulnerable groups.

Her main area of interest lies in studying the cardiovascular risk among cancer survivors and how it affects overall health outcomes in the population. By employing advanced analytical skills and leveraging real-world data, she aims to optimize the quality of life for cancer patients and advance health equity throughout the cancer care continuum.

Dr. Ashby Walker, Assistant Professor

Ashby Walker, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy and the Chair of the American Diabetes Association’s National Health Disparities Committee. Dr. Walker’s research as a medical sociologist focuses on reducing health disparities in Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes (T1D/T2D) with current funding from the NIH NIDDK, The Florida Department of Health, and The Helmsley Charitable Trust. 

Most recently, Dr. Walker and a team of experts authored an article addressing multiple international diabetes programs that tackle the issue of health disparities in diabetes. This article is featured in the journal, The Lancet, published June 23.
