University of Florida Master of Public Health student Niccole Smith has been selected as a This is Public Health student ambassador for 2022-2023 by the Association of Schools and Programs in Public Health.

Smith is among 59 students from 40 ASPPH member schools and programs who are charged with raising awareness about public health through activities such as This is Public Health social media takeovers, virtual fairs with prospective public health students, book clubs, public health presentations, panel discussions and more.

In her ambassador role, Smith will lead a weeklong social media takeover of the This is Public Health platforms during the last week of January 2023. A second-year student in the MPH program’s social and behavioral sciences concentration at the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions, Smith plans to focus on maternal health issues with her takeover. During ASPPH Graduate School Virtual Fairs, Smith and other ambassadors will answer questions from prospective students and discuss their own experiences in finding a program that fits them best.

“I’m looking forward to representing UF at various virtual graduate fairs and promoting public health awareness through social media,” Smith said. “I am very excited to collaborate with other TIPH ambassadors throughout this yearlong cohort and work on projects with them. It’s also really interesting seeing all the different topics of interest that other students have, their path to public health, and how they plan to achieve their goals.”
