This 3-part series will address the Fieldwork Educator (FWE) and fieldwork student relationship throughout the level II experience and how this can either facilitate or hinder the learning experience. Through moderated discussion and Q&A with a diverse panel of fieldwork educators across various clinical practice settings, participants will gain insights on best practices for student-centered communication and learning while optimizing client-centered care.

Target Audience

This course is well suited for occupational therapy fieldwork coordinators and fieldwork educators as well as other occupational therapists interested in supervising students.

Educational Level

Introductory: Information is geared to practitioners with little or no knowledge of the subject matter. Focus is on providing general introductory information.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify different learning and teaching styles to facilitate the best learning environment for you and your student.
  • Recognize the cues to guide your student towards entry-level success and confidence throughout the fieldwork experience.
  • Relate emotional competence with self-reflective learning for the fieldwork educator and student.

Completion Requirements

1 Contact Hour for State of Florida Occupational Therapy practitioners will be awarded upon a successful completion of a multiple choice post-test. Participants will be able to print a certificate of completion after completing a short course evaluation in addition to the post-test.

Instructional Methods

One (1) hour course during which the learner will view a streaming video presentation, reference PowerPoint® slides, and take a multiple choice post-test.
