On Nov. 21, UF faculty and administrators were joined by community members and Gainesville Mayor Craig Lowe to celebrate the launch of HealthStreet, a new community engagement initiative from the UF department of epidemiology. HealthStreet is designed to reduce disparities in health care and research. Community Health Workers talk to residents at grocery stores, health fairs and other places in Alachua County to find the best way to meet their needs. Additionally, residents can visit HealthStreet to receive health screenings, use computers, participate in community classes and access the clothing closet. HealthStreet is located at UF’s Eastside Campus location, 2124 NE Waldo Road, Building 1628, Suite 1200. Photos by Maria Belen Farias.
