The University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions offered CarFit to the Gainesville community in November. The free national program helps mature drivers fit more comfortably and safely in their vehicles. Trained occupational therapy students led drivers through a 12-point checklist with their vehicles, recommended vehicle adjustments and adaptations, and offered community resources and activities that could make personal vehicles “fit” better or enhance drivers’ safety. An occupational therapist was also on hand to provide information on maintaining and strengthening driving health.
