Dr. Curbow’s primary research interest is in the area of cancer control across the prevention spectrum. At the primary prevention level, she is involved with studies surrounding the use of alternative forms of tobacco delivery, primarily among adolescents and young adults. At the secondary prevention level she is involved with studies of tobacco cessation within special populations, such as persons with disabilities. At the tertiary prevention level, she is examining health disparities associated with the use of adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer. Across these levels of prevention, she is focused on theoretical perspectives pertaining to risk perception; risk communication; attitude, belief, and behavior change; and interpersonal communication.
