This course will provide a broad introduction to neurocognitive deficits of language in dementia, traumatic brain injury, and right hemisphere damage. We will review neural substrates of human memory and executive functioning and examine how brain damage (both focal and diffuse) compromises language and cognition. We will examine assessments of language and memory and cover contemporary theories of neuropsychological rehabilitation.
This course will provide an introduction to a range of structural and functional neuroimaging techniques. Although we will cover theory of magnetic resonance, the course will emphasize practical issues related to experimental design and image processing.
