Demonstrate Competency in Communication by expressively and receptively communicating in a culturally competent manner with patients/clients, family members, caregivers, practitioners, interdisciplinary team members, consumers, payers, and policymakers. How measured:

  • Interactions in the classroom with guest patients/families.
  • Performance on written patient notes
  • Performance in the clinic with patient experiences supervised by faculty
  • Performance on laboratory practical exams supervised by faculty
  • Performance in the clinical environment as measured on the Clinical Performance Instrument (CPI)

Level of achievement:

  • 100% of students will achieve entry-level or higher ranking on the CPI during the final internship.
  • 100% of students will achieve satisfactory performance in classroom laboratory practical exams.

  • Clinical instructors and faculty in classroom
Demonstrate competency in the practice of cultural competence by identifying, respecting, and acting with consideration for patients’/clients’ differences, values, preferences, and expressed needs in all professional activities. How measured:

Develop competency in clinical reasoning ability. How measured:

  • Grades in academic courses
  • Performance on practical exams supervised by faculty
  • Performance in the clinical environment as measured on the Clinical Performance Instrument (CPI)

  • 100% of students receive a B or better in academic courses
  • 100% of students will achieve entry-level or higher ranking on the CPI during the final internship.

Demonstrate competency in Evidence-based Practice. How measured:

  • Testing in the three courses in Evidence Based Practice
  • Performance on patient cases administered and graded by the faculty
  • Performance in the clinical environment as measured on the Clinical Performance Instrument (CPI)

Level of achievement:

  • 100% of students receive grades of B or better in all three Evidence Based Practice courses
  • 100% of students will achieve entry-level or higher ranking on the CPI during the final internship.

Demonstrate effective education of others using culturally appropriate teaching methods that are commensurate with the needs of the learner. How measured:

  • Performance in class presentations
