Jason Altmire, M.H.A., will present “How the ACA Implementation Impacts Florida’s Healthcare Delivery System” on Wednesday, April 16 at 4 p.m. in the HPNP Complex, room G-101.

Altmire is the senior vice president, public policy and community engagement at Florida Blue, the largest health plan insurer in Florida. He is responsible for leading and managing Florida Blue’s Government and Community Affairs organization, which also includes oversight of the Florida Blue Foundation and the Florida Blue Center for Health Policy. Prior to joining Florida Blue in 2013, he served three terms as a United States congressman. A nationally recognized leader on health care policy, he has been profiled by National Public Radio, Time Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and USA Today. Before being elected to Congress, he led the department of government relations and community health at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and before that worked at the Federation of American Hospitals.

Altmire’s lecture is hosted by the college’s department of health services research, management and policy. The lecture is free and open to the public. The College of Public Health and Health Professions’ Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series brings some of the nation’s top health professions and public health experts to the University of Florida campus.
