Jones takes second place in national essay contest

Ellington C. Jones, a student in the master’s in health administration program, received second place in the graduate student division of the Richard J. Stull Student Essay Competition in Healthcare Management, sponsored by the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Jones’ essay, “Just Prove IT: A Leadership Plan to Making Meaningful Use Stick,” focused on the federal government’s Meaningful Use Incentive Program, which will provide millions of dollars to hospitals and physicians to adopt the use of electronic health records. In his essay, he provides a three-phased strategy health care leaders could use to help their organizations meet Meaningful Use and realize the competitive advantages that exist by meeting the requirements.

Jones received a $2,000 award and support for travel expenses to attend the Congress on Healthcare Leadership next month in Chicago.
